reVISION – a tactile, multi-sensory art exhibition
March 8 - April 30
How often are you told that you can touch a piece of artwork? Probably rarely. What would you do if you were blind and you wanted to be an art patron? How would you experience art if you were told not to touch it but couldn’t see it visually?
Visually Impaired Preschool Services (VIPS Indiana) is proud to bring back reVISION–an art exhibition where touching the art is not only OK but it is encouraged. reVISION is a unique and interactive exhibition of works by artists who are challenged to explore their art through the eyes of the visually impaired. reVISION transforms the traditional art exhibit into a multi-sensory and spatial experience that welcomes everyone–blind and sighted alike. The artwork on display is fully accessible, allowing patrons to touch and explore each work including art and artist information in braille and large print. QR codes are used to access audio recordings from each artist. For sighted patrons, sleep shades and visual impairment simulator goggles are available to experience the artwork by using senses other than vision.
The opening night is on Friday, March 8 from 6-8 pm. We will be serving wine, refreshments and small bites.
If you can’t make it to the opening night, the show will run through April 30, 2019. The hours of the Gallery are Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. If you’d like to book a private tour, please contact Meredith Howell at email@example.com.
We thank the artists for their participation and their willingness to donate proceeds from the sale of their artwork back to VIPS to help us continue to serve Indiana’s babies and toddlers with blindness/low vision!
This event is sponsored by The Christel DeHaan Family Foundation and the Washington Township Lions Club. We appreciate their generous support.
